A PHP Error was encountered

Severity: Warning

Message: date_default_timezone_get(): It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected the timezone 'UTC' for now, but please set date.timezone to select your timezone.

Minds in Motion

Minds in Motion (MIM) is an award winning community group run by students at the University of York and Hull York Medical School to help support people with dementia and their carers. This can be challenging work, but is also extremely rewarding.

We work in partnership with the Alzheimer's Society and are supported by the NHS York and Selby Mental Health Team for Older People. Students from any department are welcome to join us.

Volunteers work in teams to put on activities for people with dementia who attend local Community Units for the Elderly, either as day visitors or residents. We have six teams: singing and music recital; dance and movement; arts and crafts; reminiscence; restoration; and interactive music. We have worked with occupational therapists to devise activities to maximise function, extend attention span, elevate mood and to engender a sense of identity.
